Powerball Jackpot Soars to $425 MILLION! Lottery Urges Responsible Play

BOISE, Idaho - The nationwide rush to buy tickets for Wednesday’s Powerball drawing has driven the jackpot from $400 million to $425 million, the game’s third highest.  The one-time cash jackpot for the draw is $244.7 million. The Idaho Lottery Director reminds players to play responsibly, to not go overboard, and to play what they can afford.

“Any time the Powerball jackpot reaches high levels there is an increase in player participation in the game,” said Idaho Lottery Director, Jeff Anderson. “We want to remind everyone that when they do play, to please do so responsibly.

The last opportunity players have to purchase a ticket for the $425 Million Powerball jackpot is tonight at 7:55 p.m. Mountain Time when the draw closes. The winning numbers are announced at 8:59 p.m. Mountain Time.

Idaho is an extremely lucky state with three $1,000,000 Powerball winners in the past month. Idaho’s largest Powerball jackpot winner was Brad Duke in 2005. Duke won a whopping $220.3 million playing Powerball.

Players can check their tickets for winners by visiting idaholottery.com after the draw, by calling the Idaho Lottery’s winning numbers hotline (208-334-4656), using our Check-a-Ticket app, or by checking their tickets at Idaho Lottery retail locations.

“We encouraging players who buy a ticket for the drawing to sign their tickets at the time of purchase.  All lottery tickets are bearer instruments, meaning we pay the person who signs the ticket and presents it for payment,” added Anderson.
