Tuesday was a payday for Sunday Gallegos and her husband was one number away from winning a $152.6 million Powerball jackpot last Wednesday. The couple from Roy, Utah matched four of the first five numbers for that night’s draw and the Powerball, earning them a $50,000 win.
“We are haunted by the number 4,” said Gallegos’ about the sole number that was not on their winning ticket’s line. “We were just one number away from retiring!”
Ironically, the couple had a multiple line ticket that had multiple winners, including one line below their big winner that did include the number 4. “I guess I just can’t match that one up to the other line, can we?” asked Gallegos jokingly.
The couple plans to get out of debt with their winnings. Their Powerball ticket was sold at Top Stop Chevron in Malad.
