Oh So Close, for the Second Time; Utah Woman Claims $100,000 Powerball Prize

Thirteen years ago, Margo Mark from Amalga, Utah matched four of her first five numbers and the Powerball number and won $5,000.  This past Sunday morning, Margo while working in the yard, heard there was a big winner from Franklin County, Idaho, so she checked her Powerball tickets for winners and suddenly felt her heart leap.  Four of the first five numbers matched and she had the Powerball. Again.

“I stopped working and went straight back to Franklin and La Tienda and had the girls check my ticket,” said Margo.  “I wanted to be sure I was seeing what I thought I was seeing.”

Margo’s ticket also had the PowerPlay, which multiplies non-jackpot winning prizes.

“If I had had the PowerPlay thirteen years ago, I would have won $20,000 instead of $5,000.  I swore I would not do that again, so I always get the PowerPlay,” explained Margo. “This is twice I’ve had four numbers and the Powerball. Only one number away from the jackpot!”

Times and prizes on Powerball have changed over the past thirteen years. This close brush with winning the Powerball jackpot won Margo a $100,000 Powerball prize. Her winning ticket was sold at La Tienda in Franklin along the Idaho-Utah border.

Margo said she and her husband plan to use their winnings for home improvements and investments.

Congratulations Margo!
